Rachel’s Story: A Single mother in Crisis

"With two little ones, I was drowning until MJCF came along."

Rachel is a Single Mother with 2 children aged 12 and 16. Rachel recently escaped domestic violence from a Husband that assaulted her and her children. She has a restraining order against her ex-husband however this order has been breached a number of times. There is also a legacy from her ex-husbands financial abuse which debilitated her finances. The children have PTSD and have been directly and severely impacted by the abuse and trauma with both requiring psychological support. MJCF is supporting with Rental Assistance and Coles Vouchers.

Hana & Michael’s Story: A Young Couple’s Silent Struggle

"We never expected to need help so soon."

Newlyweds Hana and Michael were excited to start their life together—until past trauma resurfaced, leaving Hana in urgent need of weekly therapy. Soon, the emotional toll affected Michael, and both were struggling with their mental health. With no more Medicare-funded sessions left, they turned to MJCF. Thanks to donor support, MJCF covered the cost of therapy, giving them the support they needed to heal and move forward.

David & Ruth’s Story: Fighting Illness & Financial Strain

"We just wanted to keep him healthy."

Living on their pension, David and Ruth were struggling to afford fresh food while David battled bowel cancer. Ruth, also in need of urgent dental care, didn’t know where to turn. Thanks to MJCF, they received monthly Coles vouchers for nutritious meals and financial support for critical medical treatments. Today, they can focus on David’s recovery without the weight of financial stress.

Maya’s Story: A Child’s Future at Risk 

"This therapy is changing her future—but she can’t do it alone."
At 8 years old, Shira struggled daily with school tasks that came easily to others. Her application for NDIS funding was rejected and her family can’t afford the therapy required. She has been struggling to manage in school and to cope with situations at home. Shira desperately needed support with her learning, independence, and skill development.  Thanks to donor support, she received critical occupational therapy—helping her develop skills for life. But she needs continued support.

Susan’s Story: Rebuilding After Crisis

"Without this support, I don’t know where I’d be. Knowing someone cared gave me hope."
Susan is a 67-Year-Old single woman who was living with her daughter and splitting the rent. The daughter has now moved out. She ran her own business but it closed down due to Covid. She is now working with an employment consultant to find work. She is also seeing a psychologist to help manage her mental health issues and suffers from anxiety and depression. MJCF is supporting with rental assistance and medical bills while also offering financial counselling to ensure Susan is receiving all the government benefits she is entitled to.
